Are you a beginner trying to learn your first riff? Here is a simple guitar riff which is easy to learn. Any newbie can do this. It just needs time and practice.
The chords involve in this riff, is G, Em, C, Am, and D. Also, the chromatic passing notes between the G and Em note, which is F#, and between Am and D, which is B, adds spice to this rhythm.
First off, play the G chord. Then, execute a riff between G and Em along with its chromatic passing note which is F#. The sequence is like this: 3rd fret of the 6th sting to 2nd fret of the 6th string to open 6th string. Next, play an open Em chord and then a C chord. Use the same sequence above but this time play the pattern on the 5th string. This gives you C, B, and A, respectively. Then, play the Am chord and finish it up with a D chord.
This is a cool riff to do for any starter. Get a feel for it and do your own variations.
